Monday, July 28th - Cloudy

Ok, so homesickness does exist for Ian. Kind of a shocker. It hit me like a brick in the face...well not really. Ya anyway, party last night was insane! (I didn't start off so crazy). I went to a Folk music festival with a friend of mine through rotary (Leandro). We then went to a basketball game, where Comodoro´s team stopped the opposing teams 3-0 winning streak!!! (it was on tv). After that I went to dinner at Leandro´s house. Empinadas of course. ( a pastry filled with an assortment of meats/cheeses). After dinner me and Leandro went to his friends house, where his friend was having a party. Lots of food/dancing... and pizza pop chips party hats and parents. Here's where we get into the really south American not so much Whitby life...Its 3 o'clock in the morning, I tell Leandro I should be going home relatively soon, he agrees.... and then we go out to ¨Gigante¨ night club until 6 in the morning.

Lyric of the Day:

¨The General awok from the night to tell what he had seen... I have seen the others, and I have discovered that this fight is not worth fighting. So take a shower and shine your shoes, you got no time to lose. You´re a young man you must be living. ¨ - Dispatch

Thursday, July 24th - Sunny

Rada Tilly is absolutely gorgeous. I was kind of expecting Canada with a different name here, but my god, Argentina is actually really different than Canada. Little things, lots of little things. We have Mate here, ( a tea ), and dulce de leche, a caramel spread, (which has not ceased to make anything and everything even more delicious than it has been). Outside my window right now I see the ocean, 30 feet away. I see streets, none of which are paved, but gravel roads made of stones the size of golf balls. Oh man, these are casas, not houses. (If there really is a difference) the walls are all plastered, with bars on the windows and fences around each house. The people are incredible, always (eat), (eat). I don't mind, after a day and a half of airplane food, I was more than ready for the pasta and meat sauce waiting for me at the local rotary club. We had champagne and cake for patricias (the secretary of the rotary club and my first host mom) birthday. Lots of kisses upon introduction, and saying hello and goodbye. guys with guys included. We need to work on a tradition like that in Canada.

8:51 am Brazilian time Sao Paulo OK, I'm in brazil, easily the largest city I have ever seen, IT just keeps going. I've been told that Buenos Aires is even bigger. A woman from air Canada took my passport and ticket from varig and went to get my boarding pass for me. That was easily the most frightening experience of my entire life. longest half hour of my life. NERVE RACKING. A city of 10 million. I couldn't even fathom how far this was before, put it this way. IT took me ten minutes to cross lake Ontario, and I was flying for ten hours. Rock On, Chau

Tuesday, July 22nd

So here I am, after six months of busting my butt over a mountain of paperwork, I'm sitting at gate 530 waiting. My flight is two hours late. I have no Idea of what to expect. This past week, people screaming wishes goodbye, made things no easier for this exchange student. All I'm thinking right now is thank the lord my bag is being sent to Buenos Aires

P.S. after constantly checking, I have my boarding pass.
